After the minor key of the first newsletter, I request your understanding for the cheap metaphors that follow.
“ PHEW! ”
We’re afloat...
And are frantically holding onto the lifeline we have been thrown (a project subsidy for RADIO NRV) and the bits of wreckage bobbing around us (®Echafaudages and the repertoire).
“ SPLASH! ”
We missed the boat when the subsidised theatre companies had their names called out, so we are trying to keep our heads above water by means of other subsidy channels and our own income.
We have to make sure ‘FLAVORIA’, our flagship, can bridge a two-year gap with limited resources so it will have a chance of being recognised as a workplace.
We hope that the emergency services we have called in will get here in time to make this ambitious plan work.
But in spite of these uncertainties all is well, and thanks to a substantial project subsidy for RADIO NRV, ‘Flavoria’ is for a short time again running full steam ahead: we are working on KOP, an installation that’s a sequel to the ‘Verzin je eigen... ding’ competition, which is a joint venture with PLAZEY and the VCA, and for the summer we are preparing several ‘Sjoemelage Festivities’ (Akenkaai in Brussels on 14/15 June and Baden (CH) on 10-14 September).
®Echafaudages has completed its first successful tour and options for next season at home and abroad are already coming in. The Making Of is also undergoing a revival and can be seen in Brussels on 15 March and at various places in Austria this summer.
We hope to be able to welcome you to RADIO NRV shows some time soon, so you can feel the euphoria of ‘Flavoria’.
Your captain,
Pat Van Hemelrijck
